Today, November 4, 2016, we are celebrating the anniversary of our beloved daughter Eve Crowell’s birth, 42 years ago, by launching a new, updated website in her name and memory.
Just this picture alone says a lot about Eve. What college sophomore, against her parents advice, shows up on a college campus with an already big, active lab puppy called Lyle? Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile books were among Eve’s favorites as a child, but why she chose to name a dog “Lyle,” we will never know. As you can imagine, Eve’s presence on campus made quite a stir and Lyle’s presence there did not last very long.
Why am I telling you this story? To get you excited about looking at the website and learning more about this incredible young woman—our daughter, sister, niece, cousin, colleague and friend—Eve Erin Crowell.
We’ve created the website in her memory with the hope that her beauty, talent, energy and spirit will be remembered. Even if you never met Eve, we hope the story of her life will help you feel like you did.
Eve was a potent force in many people’s lives. After her death, we knew that she would want us to take an energetic role in helping others, especially young people.That is what we have tried to do with the programs we have created through Eve’s Fund for Native American Health Initiatives, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting hope and wellness for Native American youth.
Please join us today as we celebrate Eve’s life. I am going to ask you to do two things: first, please visit our beautiful new website to see lots of photos and learn more about Eve’s life, her loves, her talents and accomplishments and, her battles; and secondly, leave a message on her memorial guestbook, even if you never met her. It will give us something to always have and hold in our hearts.
