Dear Friends of Eve’s Fund,
Today, November 4, we are celebrating what would have been my beloved Eve Erin Crowell‘s 49th birthday. As so many of you know, she died unexpectedly shortly after her 30th birthday on February 24, 2005.
Her dad, the late Bob Crowell, and I quickly realized that Eve would not have wanted us to mourn and grieve forever, so we harnessed our years of education, experience, skills, and love for our daughter to create a nonprofit organization in her memory—Eve’s Fund for Native American Health Initiatives.
That was over 18 years ago, and since that time, we have dedicated our retirement years to building programs in sync with Eve’s values and our own: making an extraordinary corner of the world a more just, fair, and hopeful place through compassion, action, collaborations, and partnerships.
My recent 12-day trip to the Navajo Nation left me beaming with pride and joy and the realization that with the help of our friends, family and generous donors, we have grown Eve’s Fund into something that has more promise than ever to continue bringing HOPE and WELLNESS to Native American children, youth and their families, now and into the future.
Happy Birthday, dear Eve! Your legacy has changed the world. You are forever a part of the “Circle of Life.”
Gratefully,
Barbara Crowell Roy

PS: I wish you all could have joined us on our recent trip to the Navajo Nation. It had been over a year and a half since I had visited due to health problems experienced by family members. I was embraced by so many people, young and old alike, and truly felt the meaning of the “Circle of Life,” the famous song from the film “The Lion King,” a favorite of Eve’s. Eve’s life and death and legacy, out of which Eve’s Fund was born, are a beautiful expression of the “The Circle of Life.”
“12 Days on the Navajo Nation Video” (October 2023)
On our recent trip to the Navajo Nation, we visited elementary schools that have embraced our Magic Tree House literacy program and engaged with fifteen new high school scholarship students and heard their goals and hopes for the future. We participated in Native HOPE suicide-prevention programs for kids in grades 3 through 10. We also met with many of our Community Partners, both new and long-established. We returned renewed, inspired, and invigorated by what lies ahead.
The “Twelve Days on the Navajo Nation” video above, clearly illustrates how Eve’s Fund is saving and transforming lives.
We are Grateful!
We are inspired and energized by the kind and thoughtful people who passionately support our mission through their donation of time, talent and financial gifts.
We are at peace knowing that Eve’s life and legacy are continuing through our programs, partnerships and the thousands of people being impacted positively by our programs.
Eve Erin Crowell and Eve’s Fund, her legacy, are an integral part of the Universe’s Circle of Life and the Circle of Love. Born on November 4, Eve will forever be a symbol for the 4 directions of Navajo culture.
