* In January 2010, nine Navajo boys joined a newly formed Boy Scout Troop and quickly learned the importance of teamwork, determination, and overcoming fears as they completed a challenging ropes course.
* In March, 9-year-old Derrick and his 12-year-old brother Patrick learned how to create a video honoring their grandmother in a three-day “digital storytelling” workshop. For these – and the other young Native Americans who participated – finding their unique voice and sharing their personal stories was an empowering experience.
* In May, more than 1,900 school children across Arizona and New Mexico learned how important it is to use seat belts and wear bike helmets. Speakers from ThinkFirst Navajo shared stories about their own disabling injuries as they talked to students about the importance of injury prevention.
* And in July, 20 Navajo girls spent a week at day camp, laughing, sharing traditions, building friendships, and gaining self-confidence.
On behalf of these — and the hundreds of others who have benefited from Eve’s Fund programs just this year — we are thankful.
For the friends and family who support Eve’s Fund in memory of our beloved Eve…the fans and followers who help us spread the word…our dedicated board members, program partners and volunteers…and the generous donors who help us reach more children each year…we are thankful.
Your contributions are making a real difference in the lives of Native American youth, but there are still many more young people who need our help. Our resources are limited, so we are asking you to give now if you can.
