Dear Friends of Eve’s Fund,
Eve’s Fund began twenty years ago out of love — love for a daughter, and a decision by two parents to create something in Eve name and memory that would reflect her values and the issues she cared deeply about. From the beginning, our work has been about responding thoughtfully to real needs and building programs that protect, support, and uplift young people who are too often left out.
As Eve’s Fund completes its 20th year, we want to pause, and name the values that have guided our work from the beginning: community, resilience, hope, and love.
Community
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
— Helen Keller
Community has always been at the heart of Eve’s Fund. Our work has never been about acting in isolation, but about listening, building trust, and working alongside others.
One of the first needs we addressed was safety. High rates of preventable injuries among Native youth led to the creation of injury-prevention efforts through our ThinkFirst Navajo program, along with the distribution of thousands of sports helmets and hundreds of infant and booster seats. This work grew through partnerships with schools, health centers, governmental agencies, and community leaders — reaching children where they live and learn.
Community is what made this possible: people coming together around a shared responsibility to save lives, protect children and strengthen families.
Resilience
“In the midst of hardship, we remain strong.”
— Navajo (Diné) teaching
For the young people around whom Eve’s Fund’s programs are built, resilience is not about being asked to endure hardship alone. It grows when support is present early, consistently, and with respect.
As relationships deepened, it became clear that literacy was another urgent need. Many children were falling behind grade level, limiting opportunity long before adulthood. In response, Eve’s Fund formed a partnership with famous children’s book author, Mary Pope Osborne, resulting in the distribution of thousands of books to Native children. These efforts reflected a simple understanding — resilience grows when children are given tools, encouragement, and belief in their potential.
Hope
“Education is the ladder. Let us take hold of it.”
— Chief Manuelito
For Eve’s Fund, hope has meant listening carefully and responding in partnership with the communities we serve and value. It has meant believing that access, safety, education, and opportunity matter — and acting on that belief.
Hope has taken tangible form through education. Our scholarship programs — including support for Tribal adaptive student athletes — represent our largest and most sustained investment, helping young people move forward with opportunity, confidence, and choice.
Through injury and suicide prevention education, literacy efforts, scholarships, and support for other nonprofits with shared missions, Eve’s Fund has reached more than 78,000 Native American children. Each program reflects a commitment to helping young people imagine and build a future with greater possibility and stability.

Love
“What is uttered from the heart alone will win the hearts of others to your own.”
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
We created Eve’s Fund from love expressed through action — listening, protecting, and standing alongside others. It began after the loss of our daughter Eve, and in the decision to turn out sadness into service in her name and memory. That love continues to guide our work, shaping decisions and sustaining commitment across decades.
With appreciation
As Eve’s Fund moves forward from this twenty-year foundation, we want to thank the many family and friends whose generosity and steady presence have sustained our initiatives over the years.
Your support has ensured that these values live not only in words, but in practice.
