Eve’s Fund received a Special Recognition Award at Navajo Prep’s annual awards banquet in May for its scholarship program. The school’s Board of Trustees and Betty Ojaye, the outgoing Head of School thanked Eve’s Fund founders, Barbara Crowell Roy, who was present at the event, as well as Dr. Robert M. Crowell for their commitment to promoting the education, leadership and community involvement of Navajo high school students.
The Eve’s Fund Scholarship Fund, created in 2011 as a way to address the significant educational needs of high school students on the Navajo Nation, has donated $48,000 to a total of 30 students, some of whom have received financial support for their full four years at Navajo Prep.
To be eligible for assistance from Eve’s Fund, applicants must demonstrate financial need, scholastic potential, and leadership skills. Each Navajo Prep scholarship recipient receives $1,000 to cover the school’s student fees.
Scholarship recipient, Irvilinda Bahe, who will graduate in 2019, received many of the awards handed out including several IB Learner Profile Awards, Residential Life and Best of Show for her excellence in Art.
Irvilinda was also awarded the Harvard Prize Book for exceptional academic achievement and school and community involvement.
