Dear Friends of Eve’s Fund,
If anything, the past year has proven that life can be unpredictable. 2020 might not be a year we want to remember, but it is certainly one we will never forget. Due to the pandemic, caused by the coronavirus, most of us experienced fundamental changes in all aspects of our lives. Also, hundreds of thousands of our global neighbors suffered heartbreaking losses, especially the most disenfranchised and vulnerable among us. But more than ever, we all came to realize the importance of family, friends and community to help us through what was likely the most unsettling, unpredictable, and unprecedented year in our lifetime.
A year of challenges and changes
Despite the challenges, changes and losses brought about by the coronavirus, as well as the passing of Eve’s father, Robert M. Crowell, founder of Eve’s Fund, we are pleased to share that 2020 was a year in which we continued to make a difference in the lives of young people in need on the Navajo Nation – thanks to the kindness and support of so many of you.
Promoting Native Hope and Wellness
Since the pandemic necessitated a halt to our in-person programs, we have found ways to continue to work towards our mission of Promoting Native Hope and Wellness. Here are just a few examples:
- Gifted $5,600 to the Navajo Nation COVID-19 Relief Fund to help fight the pandemic which has ravaged the Navajo Nation, representing the proceeds of many gifts to Eve’s Fund, including donations made in memory of Bob Crowell, who died on March 24 after a long illness.
- Created an impactful social media campaign to focus attention on the many disparities on the Navajo Nation exposed by COVID-19, increasing the awareness of our work and inspiring many Facebook fundraisers in support of our mission.
- Awarded $11,000 in scholarships to high school students attending the Navajo Preparatory School based on academic achievement, leadership potential and financial need.
- Received the 2020 Outstanding Community Involvement Award from ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation for our new “Buckle Up Navajo Newborns initiative which purchases infant/toddler car seats for Native families in need and provides instruction for their safe installation and proper, consistent use.
- Donated and shipped an additional 40 car seats to the Navajo Nation Department of Highway Safety for distribution to families in need as part of our “Buckle Up Navajo Newborns” injury prevention program.
Eve’s Fund is grateful for your support
Please know how much your past support of our work with vulnerable, at-risk Navajo children and their families is appreciated.
We are grateful to those of you who have already made a gift to support our work in 2020 – thank you once again!
If you have not yet had the opportunity and if you feel inspired to include Eve’s Fund in your end-of-year giving, we hope we can count on your assistance as we close out the year and plan for a successful 2021 and the reactivation of our community-based education programs. Your support and optimism for better things to come in 2021 mean the world to us and the young people we serve on the Navajo Nation.
Your gift before midnight on December 31 – in any amount – will help us close the $1,100 gap vs. our year-end 2020 fundraising campaign goal.
