On this day, eighteen years ago, our world changed forever with the tragic death of our beloved Eve Erin Crowell, in whose memory Eve’s Fund was founded.
Our daughter, sister, aunt-to-be, niece, cousin, colleague and friend had just turned 30.
Our children are our legacy, and no parent ever expects to have to bury a child. If a child precedes us in death, we must find the strength to continue their memory and their values and to honor the things that were important to them. As devastating as her death was to us, that is what we, her family, have tried to do.
Thousands of people have comforted and supported us in our sorrow over losing Eve and we are truly grateful. As time has passed, it has become clear that Eve touched many lives and made a difference to those around her.
To say that Eve was special is an understatement. Eve was unforgettable.
Eve inspired others.
Eve’s life was not in vain.
Eve’s spirit is still alive.
Eve was loved by many.
Eve will forever be connected to nature, the universe and to Native American youth.
Many of you reading this never knew or met Eve or anyone in her family, and yet you’re connected to us through the work being done by Eve’s Fund for Native American Health Initiatives, the non-profit organization we created in her memory to serve at-risk Native youth living on or near the Navajo Nation.
